Fair point. The Elvis track has special meaning to my friends and as they cannot dance to that I think they were hoping for something more recent. They are new to ballroom dancing and I think that in time they will come to appreciate the classics more.

Try "Dark Waltz" - Hayley Westerna or "Nocturne" from A Secret Garden.
Both are beautiful, moving pieces.

Thanks again. I have suggested to them an album of modern waltzes by Tony Evans - 21 Cool Waltzes. I use it quite a lot and hopefully they will find something they like on it. Many thanks.

If you do want Elvis then consider "Are You Lonesome Tonight" Its about 25.5 bars per minute which is s bit slow for MW. I speed it up a bit (29) and its great and popular.

You have not said the age of your friends which is important when asking for music suggestions.

Other tunes that provide both a music and dance experience:
Toni Wille and Benny Neyman- Oh, How I Miss You Tonight
Henry Mancini - Moon River
Cait Agus Sean - Flying
Mireille Mathieu _ La Derniere Valse (LastWaltz)
Henry Mancini - Charade
Cliff Richard & The Shadows - When The Girl In Your Arms Is The Girl In Your Heart

If they like rock music let's say under 60 then also:
Journey - Open Arms
Eagles - Take It To The Limit

I rarely use dance music - often not a music experience, may as well have two sticks tapping together. The music you hear in elevators! Like watching paint dry - boring!

I use the original exciting music and rearrange it.

Thanks, advice appreciated.

My friends are 40 years old.

The big day is Friday this week so I hope they have settled on some music now!

I will report back on what they chose.

They went for "Greatest Day - Tony Evans 21 Cool Waltzes" which was a good choice.

'Come Fly with Me' Michael Buble is not a waltz. It needs to have 3 counts per bar. Norah Jones 'come Away with Me' is a slow 3 counts.

If you want a slow waltz that is classy and elegant, I recommend "under the bridges of Paris". If you want another that is less known but just as lovely, try "indian love call". If you want a nice song with lyrics, I recommend "My Cherie". All of these have an easy to follow waltz 123 beat.

Good Luck.
